This Man Ate 700 Eggs in a Month — The Results Might Surprise You

When most people decide to make significant changes to their eating habits, they usually have a specific objective in mind. Maybe they want to live a healthier lifestyle, maybe they want to gain or lose weight, or perhaps their present diet doesn’t accord with their principles.

The majority of us have probably chosen to exclude certain foods from our diets at some point. It’s also safe to say, I believe, that very few of us have ever taken on a challenge like Dr. Nick Norwitz.

Dr. Norwitz, a researcher and educator whose website states that his goal is to “Make Metabolic Health Mainstream,” recently gained notoriety online thanks to his YouTube channel, where he chronicled his experience after deciding to eat 700 eggs in a month to see what would happen to his body.

That’s correct. 700 eggs! For those who are curious, that is equivalent to two egg cartons per day for 30 days. Or, as the physician says, one egg every hour. We can all agree that it’s a challenge that’s not for the weak of heart.

To meet the standards, Dr. Norwitz needed to eat an astounding 24 eggs every day. What motivated him to follow what most of us would consider an intimidating and drastic diet? He sought to demonstrate that his cholesterol levels, particularly his LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, would not be considerably affected by such an excessive consumption of eggs high in cholesterol.

It’s likely that you’ve heard about cholesterol, which is generally thought to be harmful to the heart when it’s constantly high.

When I was a child, we were told that eating meals high in cholesterol every day would put a person on a course that would lead to major problems later in life and that cholesterol could not be avoided.

Naturally, the overall consensus among health specialists changes with the times. Nowadays, some people contend that cholesterol isn’t as harmful as was once claimed. Since I’m not a doctor, I won’t sit here and tell you that eating 24 eggs a day is okay (please don’t do it at home). However, to be fair to Dr. Norwitz, his experiment produced some intriguing results.

After eating an incredible 720 eggs in a single month, the good doctor’s cholesterol levels did not rise as predicted, according to his YouTube channel.

On the contrary, he asserted that he had seen his LDL cholesterol levels gradually decline in addition to being constant. In the first two weeks, Dr. Norwitz’s LDL cholesterol decreased by 2%, but in the next two weeks, it would decrease by 18%.

Dr. Norwitz described the science underlying the findings, stating that dietary intake affects how the liver regulates the manufacture of cholesterol and that his LDL levels seemed to stabilise after he added more carbohydrates to his diet.

“I was eating crazy amounts of cholesterol, but the extra dose of carbohydrates took precedence,” he said, according to the New York Post.

Following that, Norwitz selected fruits like strawberries, bananas, and blueberries to consume during the last two weeks of his trial, which led to the previously reported sharp decline.
