People say that 22-year-old Gregory Groom killed Kylee Monteiro by stabbing her. She was only 18 years old and 11 weeks pregnant. They say he then buried her in his grandparents’ backyard and hid the crime with cut trees and plants.
Monteiro had texted her sister a terrifying message before she died in a horrible accident.

Last note
Kylee Monteiro, who was 18 at the time, sent her last message on August 7. She texted her sister Faith a frightened message explaining that her boyfriend had hit her.
“He threw me to the ground, pulled my hair, and choked me,” she told the New York Post.
“My phone is at 4 percent; if I die, it was Greg.”
The next morning, the groom went to the police in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, to report that Monteiro was missing.
He told the authorities that she had just finished a stint at a residential institution and had taken a ridesharing to his house on August 6, where she planned to stay. The groom stated they clashed about where she would live, and then she ran away.
But it was clear that something was very wrong.

“I know there has been a lot of talk…”
Monteiro’s family was even more alarmed when the teen, who was known for being active on social media, abruptly stopped posting. CBS News stated that she told everyone on TikTok that she was pregnant and that Groom treated her “like gold.”
Later, Kylee’s sister Faith Monteiro told the news, “I know there has been a lot of talk about domestic abuse, but that wasn’t the case in their relationship.”
A massive search started on August 8. At first, Groom was charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery, and threatening a witness.

But the investigation grew worse very rapidly. When the police warned the groom they would search his grandparents’ house on County Street in Rehoboth, he is claimed to have confessed.
Jason Mohan, the prosecutor, claimed that Groom admitted to stabbing Kylee twice in the neck and once in the chest with a kitchen knife that broke during the fight. He then dragged her body about 20 yards away and buried it about five feet deep.
The so-called confession
Mohan said that Groom even drew a “simple map” to show the police where the grave was. Later, search teams found a disturbed area of ground that had been hidden by bushes and trees that had been cut down and placed near the shed.
Even after he said he was guilty, Groom still said he was innocent and stayed in jail without bail. On September 10, he will go back to court for a probable cause hearing.
Monteiro finished high school in Attleboro earlier this summer. It is still not certain if the child she was carrying was Groom’s.

“I love her so much because she was so kind and loving.” Kira Schofield, a family friend, said, “My daughter was her best friend.”
“She wanted to be a mother.” “I was so happy,” Schofield told CBS News.
Faith Monteiro, who is still grieving, said:
“I lost my sister, and I’ll never see her again, talk to her, say goodbye, or tell her how much I love her.”
People adored animals.
According to Faith, Kylee loves animals and is a really happy person.
“She is very kind. She is pretty. “She really was just a happy person,” Faith said. She cared about other people.
The Bristol County District Attorney, Tom Quinn, offered his condolences to the family:
“Of course, this is a very hard time for them.” Even if they’re hurting, send them your sympathy and tell them to be patient.

In Kylee’s honor, the residents in the region are going to throw a vigil. There will be a Vigil of Hope for Kylee Monteiro on Saturday, August 23, at 7 PM at Redway Plain and The Veterans Memorial Gazebo in Rehoboth.
