Perhaps Ellen DeGeneres’ days in America are over.
There are rumors that the former talk show host and her husband, actor Portia de Rossi, have left the country and put their Montecito, California, home up for sale.
TMZ and The Wrap were informed by sources that Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed bid for the White House was the direct cause of the couple’s departure.
Degeneres moved to a rural part of the United Kingdom called the Cotswolds, according to The Wrap.
She has been “kicked out of show business” for being “mean,” DeGeneres stated in her 2024 Netflix special, in reference to the allegations of a “toxic work environment” that plagued her daytime program. The comedian at the time also called herself “America’s most hated person.”
DeGeneres is just one of many well-known celebrities who have left this country. After spending her “whole adult life” in California, actress Eva Longoria, who was born in Texas, recently talked about her personal reasons for moving away. Longoria stated that she and her family now go back and forth between Mexico and Spain, and that “the vibe” in California has changed dramatically since the 2010s.
She told Marie Claire, “And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge,” for a cover story that was released last week. “This chapter in my life seems to be coming to an end, whether it’s because of the taxes or the homelessness. It’s not that I want to curse California.”
According to Longoria, the current presidential election proves that she made the right choice.
“I’m fortunate,” the actor went on to say. I get to go somewhere and get away. It’s not that way for most Americans. The fact that they will be stranded in this dystopian nation makes me sad and anxious for them.
Harris was openly supported by both Longoria and DeGeneres. The TMZ report claims that DeGeneres publicly endorsed Harris and contributed to her campaign after she was selected to succeed Joe Biden.
