On the 50th anniversary special of the show, Hanks’ SNL skit was featured.
Following the debut of his MAGA-wearing ‘Doug’ character on Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special, Tom Hanks has infuriated Donald Trump supporters.
Celebrities gathered in New York on Sunday, February 16, to commemorate SNL’s significant birthday milestone.
Many celebrities, including Jack Nicholson, Aubrey Plaza, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep, attended the sketch comedy’s 50th birthday celebration.
Additionally, Hanks attended the party and made an appearance in a skit that has generated some criticism among Trump fans.
On the parody game program Black Jeopardy, the actor from Forrest Gump wore a red “Make America Great Again” cap while portraying a man named Doug.
Doug first declined to shake hands with the spoof show’s host, Kenan Thompson, during the farce.
When Doug finally made the welcome motion, he said, “I don’t like that, whoa, whoa, whoa. Maybe I’ll establish a show called White Jeopardy and invite you to participate.”
Following the skit’s airing, a large number of Trump fans took to Twitter, and it’s safe to say that absolutely none of them were impressed.
“Tom Hanks went on Saturday Night Live dressed like a slob and made fun of millions of Trump supporters by calling them rednecks, racists, and stupid,” one post stated.
“Libs, keep going. You’re never going to win another election.”
In contrast, Link Lauren, a former advisor to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., wrote: “Tom Hanks just appeared on Saturday Night Live wearing a MAGA hat, acting as though he was unwilling to shake hands with a black guy.
“This show is perplexed as to why its ratings are so low. In the popular vote, Trump prevailed. The cliche that MAGA is racist is repulsive. The snooty liberal elites find SNL to be an unfunny show. The Republican Party of today is a broad coalition made up of numerous former Democrats. “SNL, good bye!”
“No one in the audience laughs as Tom Hanks appears on SNL as a racist Trump supporter that refuses to shake hands with a black man,” wrote a third Trump supporter, and another wrote: “This shits me.” Tonight, Tom Hanks played a MAGA bigot in a spoof on Saturday Night Live. He visibly flinches as a black game show host extends his hand to shake hands.
