The Stark Contrast in How Trump and Zelenskyy Were Greeted at Pope Francis’ Funeral

Individuals are contrasting the reception of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Donald Trump at Pope Francis’ funeral.

World leaders from all around the world, including Trump, Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, attended the service in Rome on Saturday, April 26.

In addition to Prince William, Zelenskyy, and Starmer, Trump also arrived with his wife, Melania, who served as First Lady.

However, there is a significant difference in the way the leaders were greeted, and many are pointing it out.

Zelesnkyy received a round of applause from the people in videos posted on X, but Trump didn’t seem to get the same reception.

“While Zelensky was greeted with a spontaneous round of applause, Trump, in his blue suit at Pope Francis’s funeral, received nothing,” the caption to the video read.

In the comments section, individuals were quick to share their thoughts. One person wrote: “That’s a lot of applause honoring #Zelenskyy – it isn’t a mere handful.”

Another person added: “It’s so beautiful and honest to see that Europe values this man despite all the heartache and yelling.” Zelenskyy is an honorable leader.

Many criticized Trump for wearing blue rather than black, calling it “disrespectful.”

At the funeral, Zelenskyy and Trump met in person for the first time since their dramatic confrontation at the White House earlier this year, according to Sky News.

The two had a “very productive discussion” after traveling to Rome for the service, according to a person who spoke to the magazine.

Earlier this week, Trump called for Zelenskyy to “get it done” and asserted that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine was “very close.”

“A deal is very close,” he tweeted on his Truth Social platform, “but the man with ‘no cards to play’ should now, finally, GET IT DONE.”

“I look forward to being able to help Ukraine, and Russia, get out of this complete and total MESS, that would have never started if I were president!”

Before departing Washington, Trump remarked of Francis: “He was just a good man, and he really loved the world.” He struck me as being a wonderful man.

But he said that he would also be able to “meet with a lot” of other international leaders at the funeral.

Trump said to MSNBC: “It will be a fascinating event. Many international leaders want to meet, so we will be meeting with them.

“Trade transactions are going really well. It is my belief that Russia and Ukraine are making progress, however shaky.

Additionally, I believe Iran is doing quite well. Let’s see what occurs. We have a lot of things in the works.
