Submarine Tragedy: At Least Six Dead, Including Children, After Vessel Sinks

Unfortunately, a terrible catastrophe has taken place in the Red Sea, which is located off the coast of Egypt.

During an excursion to study the coral reefs, a tourist submarine submerged, taking with it roughly 44 passengers, including children, from a variety of countries.

As a consequence of the disaster, there have been several fatalities, and there has been a significant rescue operation.

The ship began to sink.
Sindbad, a tourist submarine, was reportedly preparing for an excursion in the Hurghada region of the Red Sea in Egypt, according to the local newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm. However, on Thursday, something went horribly wrong with the submarine, which provides guests with a close-up glimpse of the coral reefs and the live marine life that is found underwater.

There were six fatalities and nine injuries, with four of them being in critical condition, as a result of the sinking of the tourist submarine that occurred in front of the marina of one of the well-known hotels in Hurghada, said the sources. We were able to save an additional 29 persons.

The Red Sea Health Directorate and the Egyptian Ambulance Authority are said to have been placed on high alert because of the rescue mission that was initiated as the submarine began to sink. The location was attended to by a total of twenty-one ambulances, in addition to security and rescue personnel.

In the vicinity of Hurghada, Sindbad has been providing tours for tourists for a number of years now.

Both of the business’s “14 real recreational submarines” are owned by the company, as stated on the website of the corporation. The vessel has the capability of descending to a depth of 82 feet in the ocean, providing breathtaking views of the coral reefs and aquatic life surrounding them.

You will be transferred back to the marine environment by the same boat after spending forty minutes below sea level, during which time you will be able to take photographs of the corals and fish while watching a diver display. The following is stated and added by Sindbad Submarines:

Enjoy the convenience and security of our air-conditioned submarine, which is outfitted with 44 passenger seats, two pilot seats, and wide round viewing windows to provide you with an experience that is unmatched in the depths of the ocean.

Six individuals of foreign nationality were slain.
The death of six foreign people was confirmed by the governor’s office in Hurghada, according to the New York Post. However, the governor’s office did not say what countries the victims were.

According to a statement on Facebook made by the Russian embassy in Egypt, all of the visitors who were on board were citizens of Russia. It should be noted, however, that the embassy reported just four fatalities, which is in contrast to the official tally provided by the local authorities.

It has been reported by the Russian Telegram channel Baza that one of the deceased is a youngster.

It is estimated that over four million people traveled to Hurghada in 2022 alone, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Egypt’s Red Sea governorate. German tourists made up the largest group, reaching 1.158 million, and the region’s resorts and hotels saw a significant increase in the number of visitors. Tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Russia were among the country’s other notable nationalities.

Nevertheless, in February, the government of the United Kingdom issued a safety warning regarding liveaboard diving vacations in the Red Sea. This was in response to the fact that there had been sixteen incidents recorded over the course of the previous five years. Three diving boats have been lost in the past 21 months, according to the Marine Accident Investigation Branch, which has resulted in several fatalities, including some individuals who were citizens of the United Kingdom.

As a consequence of this, the government of the United Kingdom is advising tourists to make reservations for these vacations only through “reputable vendors who can provide assurance about the safety standards of the dive boat.” A comprehensive safety briefing from the crew should be requested by clients upon their arrival on board, according to their recommendation.
