Nowadays, those tiny silica gel packets appear to be included with almost everything you purchase, including electronics, clothes, pharmaceuticals, and more. Two instructions are usually given to them: DO NOT EAT and THROW AWAY. Even if you should avoid eating them, you don’t have to discard them! In fact, there are numerous applications for them in the home.
Briefly speaking, clear silica gel pellets are harmless and reasonably safe to handle, despite the frequent safety warning. Certain pellets undergo color-changing treatments, which are frequently carcinogenic, to show when they have absorbed moisture. For these tasks, colored silica gel pellets should not be used.
