In August 2022, rock icon Ozzy Osbourne and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, made headlines when they declared their intention to live permanently in the United Kingdom instead of the United States, after more than 20 years in Los Angeles.
The couple’s choice was mostly influenced by their worries about the political atmosphere in America and the continuous prevalence of gun violence. But over two years later, the Osbournes are still in the United States, and they just discussed the reasons for the extended wait in a Tuesday, July 16 episode of The Osbournes Podcast.

“We’re attempting to board a flight,” Ozzy, 75, stated in response to a listener’s inquiry over their highly debated plan. The Black Sabbath frontman’s chronic health issues are more likely to be the cause of the delay than any logistical issues. Sharon, 71, went on to explain that Ozzy’s health problems have kept them from traveling back to the UK.
In just five years, Ozzy has had an incredible seven surgeries, he disclosed in a January podcast interview. In September 2023, he underwent his fourth spinal procedure as part of a continuing treatment plan to address issues stemming from a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2003. His illness continues to be a major barrier in spite of the therapies and expert consultations.
“It just seems like every time we’re about to leave, something happens with Ozzy’s health,” Sharon said openly. But she is still hopeful. She continued, “We’ll get there,” in Tuesday’s broadcast. “We will eventually return, but we really want to. “Won’t we, Ozzy?” “Yeah,” Ozzy said simply, and Sharon reassured him gently, “We will.
When Ozzy expressed his dissatisfaction with the nation’s escalating violence and polarizing politics in his 2022 interview with The Observer, it became clear that he wanted to leave the United States. He remarked at the time, “Everything’s f—— ridiculous there.” “People getting killed every day is getting to me. How many individuals have been shot in school shootings is unknown.
Additionally, that concert in Vegas had a mass shooting. It is f—— insane. He came to the tragic and obvious conclusion that “I don’t want to die in America.” I do not wish to be laid to rest in f—— Forest Lawn. My language is English. I wish to return. All I need to do is get home.
Like her husband, Sharon expressed regret at the way the United States has changed from the country they once cherished. America has seen significant upheaval. The United States of America is not what it seems. There is nothing shared about it. She remarked, “It’s a really strange place to live right now.”
According to a 2022 article in The Observer, the Osbournes had stated their intention to return to the UK by February 2023. The pair even started getting ready to move to their historic Buckinghamshire estate, which is included on the Grade II list. The relocation was apparently supported by their kids, Kelly, 39; Jack, 38; and Aimee, 40; as well as by Ozzy’s older kids, Jessica and Louis, from his previous marriage to Thelma Riley.
However, life had other plans, even though they had made public declarations and had clear objectives. Ozzy’s health is still unstable, thus the couple’s goal of going back to their own country has been repeatedly postponed. As of right now, they are still in Los Angeles, looking forward to the next phase of their lives, which will be based in England and their familiar surroundings.
They already have their hearts back in the UK, as Sharon stated. They are currently merely awaiting the ideal time and strength to catch up.
