Over 150,000 Canadians Demand Elon Musk’s Citizenship Be Revoked in Bombshell Petition

The billionaire is charged with acting “against Canada’s national interest.”

Elon Musk’s citizenship has been revoked, according to a petition signed by more than 150,000 Canadians.

Musk is accused of “engaging in activities that go against the national interest of Canada” in the legislative petition, which was filed on February 20.

The internet billionaire is closely associated with Donald Trump, who has made contentious claims about annexing Canada and making it the 51st state in the US.

The petition was started in Canada’s House of Commons by Qualia Reed, a writer from British Columbia. Charlie Angus, a New Democrat MP and Musk critic, backed it.

Despite being born in South Africa, the CEO of Tesla holds Canadian citizenship by virtue of his mother’s Regina, Saskatchewan, birthplace.

Trump’s administration and the owner of X (previously Twitter) have been collaborating closely to reduce federal government spending in the United States.

Trump has publicly expressed his desire for the US to annex Canada and threatened to put high taxes on Canadian exports on several occasions.

Because of his support for Trump, the petition alleges that the SpaceX creator is “a member of a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty.”

It requests that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom Trump has frequently referred to as the “governor,” immediately remove Musk’s citizenship and take away his Canadian passport.

In order to be officially approved and delivered to Canada’s House of Commons for a formal government response, petitions such as this one require more than 500 signatures, according to the Canadian Press. This hasn’t been an issue as of late Sunday, February 23. Reed’s petition has gathered roughly 157,000 signatures and is still growing.

In the absence of a general election, the House of Commons in Canada is scheduled to reconvene on March 24.

The petition will be available for signatures until June 20.

The richest man in the world has been instrumental in Trump’s drastic cost-cutting initiatives, spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a program that has caused widespread layoffs in US federal departments.

Consequently, hundreds of thousands of federal servants in the United States government have been impacted, including those employed by the Departments of Defence, Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs, the Internal Revenue Service, and the National Parks Service.

Musk and his alleged DOGE business are not as popular with the public as they claim to be, according to a recent Economist/YouGov poll of almost 1,600 respondents, with many Americans against the drastic cuts.

The petition appears to have no effect on Musk, who keeps using his X platform to forward his political agenda.

One message that Musk reposted on Sunday said, “Of course we support Doge! Anyone who opposes it is not an American.
