Not Being Able To Leave A 20% Tip Means You Can’t Go Out To Eat, Says Server.

According to the server, you can’t go out to eat if you can’t leave a 20% tip.

A discussion on the tipping culture in the US has been sparked by an ATikTok video that shows a server named Lillie. Lillie contends that gratuities are the source of her $3.63 hourly pay and advises patrons not to eat out if they are unable to leave a 20% tip. She compares tipping to hiring a nanny and argues that purposefully lowering meal pricing increases tipping. While some support Lillie, others disagree, highlighting the larger problem of server salaries and contrasting views on the appropriateness and scope of gratuities.

The current debate around the tipping culture in the US has been covered by TikTok.

A considerable number of people have resorted to the internet to voice their discontent with the fact that servers are not paid at fixed rates and that customers shouldn’t have to pay extra money to help them pay their bills.

She says that some people think that the way that servers are paid should be different, but she and the more than 1,600,000 other servers in the US have not yet encountered this.

“You can b*tch and moan and say that my boss should pay me more, but this is America, and that’s not happening, OK?” asks the female employee. “I am paid $3.63 a week at the restaurant where I work. My salary or revenue comes from tips.

Afterwards, TikToker goes on to say that the meals are purposefully kept inexpensive to entice customers to leave gratuities.

“The food is cheaper because you have to tip on it,” she said. You don’t deserve to go out to dinner if you are unable to leave a tip. A nanny is similar in the same way.

You should not hire a nanny for your kids if you cannot afford to pay them a full salary. You shouldn’t be allowed to eat out if you can’t afford to leave a tip. If you would like to go to McDonald’s, you can go there or place an order to go.

She added the following to the video’s caption to further her case: “And to everyone who says that we should be paid more per hour… Alright? But we aren’t. Your experience dining out would be considerably worse if you don’t leave a tip!

Those who left comments on Lillie’s video had a range of viewpoints. Even though one person mentioned that they always leave a tip when they go out, they were not pleased with the way Lillie delivered her message.

“I always tip, but this entitled mindset is beyond ridiculous. It is advised that you hunt for a different job that pays well per hour and doesn’t require you to hurry around,” they continued.

“If you are unable to make ends meet with the money you make from your job, you should look for another job,” said another person who agreed with this statement. “It’s not funny to me.” Another bystander said, “Don’t mean any harm, but just get another job.” “I don’t mean to offend.”

Still, some people only accepted Lillie to a certain extent. It was written, “Go off, girl.” Some people choose not to tip because they believe that the employer should be compensated fairly.

That person should only visit businesses that offer that kind of service. Considering that…However, a different server claimed, “I make $2.13 an hour, and we don’t get paid at all.”

While some others have acknowledged that they tip, they may not concur with Lillie’s claim that, in the case that the service is subpar, a twenty percent tip is required.

In their letter, they stated, “I leave tips based on service.” Another said, “I always leave a tip of 20% or more unless the service was really bad.”
