New Protest Song by Rock Icon References Trump and Musk

For many, our country’s state of politics is a cause for concern, President Donald Trump is accused of starting a global trade war, Elon Musk is axing entire companies with the Department of Government Efficiency, and we’re also on the brink of World War III.

It has inspired musicians to speak up and you may have recalled Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong using his Coachella performance to call out the POTUS and Elon Musk when he substituted the “MAGA” lyrics in American Idiot to “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda.”

And Jack White of The White Stripes, also changed the lyrics of ‘Corporation’ to ‘I was thinking about becoming an oligarch, who’s with me?’

Back to the 1960s, rock star Neil Young is famous for protesting with his political protest songs and now wants to keep up the tradition by targeting President Donald Trump and Elon Musk in an acid lyric.

San Francisco Chronicle reports that Young has added a new song to his storied songbook during a Los Angeles benefit concert. Young’s song (titled “Let’s Roll Again”) calls out Musk and his involvement with Tesla, and he begs American automakers to ‘come on Ford, come on GM’ to keep his hopes alive. ‘Ride again Chrysler — come on’.”

Speaking to 1,000 guests at the opening, he asked them to return to responsible manufacturing and to marvel at the example that China is setting now in green vehicle production.

Following an quick harmonica break, Young asks, “If you are fascist, get yourself a Tesla, if you are a democrat, taste your freedom.”

Musk just has to endure an awkwardly awkward earnings call in which Tesla profits crashed 70%, so we doubt he’ll be thrilled with Young’s latest offering. Mike Myers also appeared as a Canada not for sale t-shirt on SNL in an appearance last week.

The President had been previously described by Young as ‘a disgrace to my country’ because, coincidentally, he owns a dual Canadian-American citizenship. In California protest, young was on the see a ‘Hands off Canada’ sign, and it also played to Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ rally.

“Young raged on his website: ‘If I go to play music in Europe, and I say Donald J. Trump’s name, I might be one of those people coming home to America who are barred or put in jail and left to sleep on the cement floor with the aluminium blanket.'”

You may be barred from re-entering USA from saying anything bad about Trump or his administration, that’s right folks.

In addition to A Glastonbury set, Young had also played a series of European tour dates, which previously prompted him to share concerns that he would be barred from reentering the USA again.

Daryl Hannah, Kill Bills death, is young’s wife and collaborative partner who said the first Trump administration ‘tried every trick in the book’ to stop him from getting his citizenship.

Young and Trump, of course, have no love for each other—after the veteran rocker railed against Trump for using ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ on the campaign trail there likely aren’t any Neil Young CDs in the Oval Office.
