A Hard Journey to a Secluded Refuge: The Story of Mama Vee
When the hustle of the city can make it hard to hear oneself, Mama Vee favored another course: a quieter approach close to nature that allowed her to rely on herself and focus on healing.
It all started because she dreamed of living simply and happily. Mama Vee was weary of the city’s noise and went looking for peace in open wild places. At first, she lived in an old school bus as her home. By making herbs, she began to stand on her own two feet and pay attention to what was inside her.

To begin with, just the bus worked well. With the arrival of her family pets, Abbie needed her owner to adjust to pets’ needs too. Even though the animals added plenty of warmth and comfort, they began to make the small area feel even more crowded over time.
At that moment, I received an unexpected present.
Mama Vee received help from a neighbor, who gave her an old travel trailer. Most people would say it was not much. In fact, some people considered it so unsightly that it was no longer usable. However, Mama Vee noticed one important thing. The car was empty and she imagined that it could make her dreams come true.
With support from Jamie and Kevin, the trailer was once again made useful. What used to feel worn-out was suddenly comfortable and pleasant. They cleaned, hammered, painted and polished the car. They decorated with love, hanging privacy curtains, filling their beds with cushions, putting shelves laden with the necessities. It wasn’t simply some place to stay; it was home.
Mama Vee’s sense of things shifted when she entered the freshly redesigned area. The trailer wasn’t only used for sleep—it was my sanctuary. A sign of revival. Grace can sometimes show up where you least expect it.
When I told her about the trailer, she spoke with awake gratitude, saying, “It shows a new step.” I realized it ensured safety, allowed me to progress and provided space for me to relax.
Today, Mama Vee’s life revolves around the regular changes in nature. She is up with the dawn, gets work done in her garden and takes her animals out for walks in the forest. She has all the time in the world, feeling only the soft breeze and the regular thumping of her heartbeat.
She has reached a sense of peace that few ever do.
