Although Elon Musk is often in the news these days, he keeps generating headlines for a variety of reasons, including claims that he secretly fathered a thirteenth child and his ex-girlfriend’s public entreaties to him on X.
As the chairman of the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk takes his job extremely seriously when he’s not attempting to save astronauts from the International Space Station or fending off claims that he’s a lousy father from his own father. Musk is a “special government employee,” which gives him some authority even though it’s not an official position at the White House.

Although the chairman of DOGE has pledged to try to cut $2 trillion from government spending, he has also been instructed to destroy financial data belonging to millions of Americans and has faced harsh public criticism.
Musk recently shocked the world by targeting Medicare during the Conservative Political Action Conference, but this was by no means the most outrageous incident involving the richest man in the world. Javier Milei, the president of Argentina and a Trump ally, gave Musk a gilded chainsaw during one strange encounter. Milei gave Musk the chainsaw as a metaphor for the changes he’s making to the federal government during her appearance on the second day of CPAC with Newsmax presenter Rob Schmitt.
Musk was eager to top the moment we thought was the most bizarre—the Tesla CEO being shown a sci-fi photo of himself.
Others questioned Musk’s overall look and the reason he wore large sunglasses for the entire right-wing meeting.
Musk wore a gold chain, sunglasses, and a top that said, “I’m not procrastinating, I’m doing side quests.”
At one point, Musk went from declaring, “I am becoming a meme,” to adding, “My mind is a storm.”
Last year, if President Trump won and DOGE began operations, Elon Musk would have worn the identical suit. Wearing spectacles and a gold chain around his neck makes him look really stylish! 😎
Although Grimes was popular at the time, X was inundated with allegations that the billionaire had used illegal substances, and critics claimed he could hardly put a sentence together. The second hot topic at the time was “ketamine.”
With Musk clarifying that it has to do with a 2024 pledge he made if Donald Trump were to win the presidency again, at least we now know why he was wearing sunglasses.
Musk reiterated Trump’s assertions that the Fort Knox gold repository is a hoax in yet another go-to tirade. “We just want to see it and make sure somebody didn’t spray paint lead or something,” Musk added at CPAC, echoing the president’s statement that he wanted to visit the military base to confirm the presence of the gold.
Following Musk onstage was Steve Bannon, a former Trump advisor who has referred to Musk as a “parasitic illegal immigrant” who “wants to impose his freak experiments and play-act as God without any respect for the country’s history, values, or traditions.” Even though some were expecting a fight between the two that was reminiscent of Mike Tyson and Logan Paul, they did not share the stage.
Musk received numerous standing ovations and some of the conference’s loudest applause despite his detractors.
