Denzel Washington has just revealed a plethora of new projects, including one that many people may not have expected.
Denzel Washington, 69, is ready to retire from Hollywood after completing a last slate of films, marking the end of a decades-long career.
Washington told Australia’s Today show, “I’m not sure how many more films I’ll make. Probably not too many.”
His planned projects include returning to his role as Othello, which he first played at the age of 22.
“I’m about to play Othello at 70,” the two-time Academy Award winner admitted.
Beyond that, he has hinted at working with Steve McQueen and Ryan Coogler, who is supposedly developing a part for him in the next Black Panther picture. Washington also suggested projects like King Lear before joking, “After that, I’m going to retire.”
Washington’s career began in 1977 with the made-for-television film Wilma, and he made his feature debut in 1981 with Carbon Copy. Since then, he has become one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed performers, with memorable performances in films such as Glory, Training Day, and Malcolm X. His work has continuously demonstrated his talent and commitment, winning him broad praise and multiple awards.
Earlier this year, Washington expressed his wish to be engaged in Gladiator 2.
“There are very few films left for me to make that I’m interested in, and I have to be inspired by the filmmaker,” the leading man stated.
