Donald Trump is in the news again, and a lot of people are saying bad things about him online because they think his actions are “embarrassing” and “childish.” People have been angry with the 79-year-old Republican for a lot of things in the past, but what he did last week had even some of his usual critics quite angry.
A lot of people were angry right away after Trump was accused of making U.S. troops do something “humiliating” at his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15. That one thing caused a lot of problems. The most recent issue is that Trump acted weirdly in front of foreign leaders just a few days later.
On August 18, French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited to the White House. People say that Trump used the time to show off a variety of hats, many of which had statements on them that were related to his political campaigns and personal brand. A White House worker who posted a video of the event online said that Trump gave out hats with phrases like “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” “USA,” “TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING,” “GULF OF AMERICA,” and maybe most controversially, “TRUMP 2028.”
People were angry right away when the video was posted on social media. People quickly filled Instagram and Twitter with comments making fun of the ex-president and saying what he did was wrong. One person said, “What a dumb joke,” while another person said, “This is a complete embarrassment.” People said it was like “a kid showing off his toys” or “a kid giving guests a tour of his room.”

Some people didn’t believe it, while others were disgusted. One participant said, “It’s so embarrassing that it makes me sick.” “These people must be laughing and laughing when they leave Trump.” Someone else claimed they were upset and wanted it to end immediately away. “That guy sells things, not politics,” observed another participant.
That last comment could mean more than what it says. Trump has made his name into a legitimate brand throughout the years. He sells a lot of different things, such hats, golf equipment, clothes, and things for the home. People think a lot about him and how he manages his campaign based on his merchandise.
It’s not simply the date that the “TRUMP 2028” hat came out that makes it popular; it’s also what it represents in terms of the law. The hat costs $50 on Trump’s official website, and the “Trump 2028” shirt that goes with it costs $36. The product description says, “Your new favorite hat,” and there are embroidered accents and a snap clasp. It also boasts, “Made in America,” in big letters. It’s strange that the official product page can’t even spell “embroidery” right.
The tagline, the logo, and the mistake all pose huge legal problems. The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States says that no one can be president more than twice. Trump was the 45th President previously, and now he wants to be the 47th President again. He would be breaking the rules outlined by the Constitution if he ran again in 2028 and won again.

The 22nd Amendment says that “No one shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no one who has held the office of President or acted as President for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”
Even Nevertheless, Trump and some of his most loyal fans have talked about him running for a third term. If Trump were to run for president again, he would be 82 years old. He would have already been president twice, once as the 45th and once as the 47th.
Some people think the 2028 issue is just a marketing gimmick or an inside joke, but a lot of other people think it’s another example of Trump breaking political and, in some cases, constitutional rules. Even if they don’t believe it, people are paying attention to it. It’s not just a joke because it’s being marketed as official campaign stuff.
Trump is still one of the most talked-about and contentious figures in American politics. Some people think his marketing is great, but others say he’s out of touch. It’s clear that everyone is keeping an eye on what he does, and the response, especially on social media, isn’t slowing down.
