Everybody has opinions, but often we forget that they are better kept private.
An image of a 76-year-old style influencer wearing a sleeveless midi dress was recently published, and although the post received a ton of comments, not all of them were complimentary.
Candace Cima told TODAY, “This isn’t the first time this has happened, but this one surprised me.” “There needs to be a shift in people’s antiquated ideas about age-appropriate fashion.”
Grandmother Cima, who has eleven grandkids, flaunted a brown knit sleeveless dress and jumper.
This dress doesn’t help you at all from the side or back. You don’t want your form to fit below the waist. One Facebook user wrote, “Celebrate everything else about your body!”
“I don’t like the dress, but I like the sweater on,” another person said.
It’s not flattering. Never wear it by itself. “Too old to be flaunting all that skin,” wrote another person boldly.
Cima declared, “I’m not ashamed of my wrinkled skin, and it’s totally acceptable to have it at 76.” There are moments when I want to reply, “Should I cover my face as well, since I have wrinkles there?”
Seeing a gap in the market for older women, Cima launched her fashion blog in 2019.
I spotted an opportunity to discuss how to dress appropriately as you age. Because that’s what their moms and grandmothers did, women have been socialized to believe that they must hide.
“Our perspective on age needs to change. These outdated notions are unnecessary in the present society.
Cima paid little attention to the innumerable offensive comments, instead giving guidance to some of her younger and newer followers.
It’s wonderful to age. All of the knowledge you have acquired during your life is now available to you. You are the wisest you will ever be right now. Be proud of it and embrace it.
