Real life can occasionally take the most surprising turns, the kinds of turns you would only expect to see in television shows or films. For these 12 people, though, the drama was all too real. Every story in this collection illustrates how strange and erratic life can be, from shocking revelations to unanticipated occurrences.
Story 1: At college, I met a woman while I was around 19. After all, we moved in together right away, sharing a bedroom, a checking account, and everything else. I was at work when she moved out without notifying me, shortly after our first anniversary.
A month or so later, I learnt that she had moved out after getting married to her long-term partner, with whom she had been dating for five years. She must have been an actress playing her mother because her mother had never heard of me. For years, I was perplexed. © Reddit/Rearwindwinds
The second story is that, shortly after graduating from high school, I met a girl named Jacqueline, who happens to be my mother’s name. Both of us grew up in the same mid-sized city. I simply said, “Oh, that’s a completely coincidental happenstance!” and didn’t give it any thought.
Two or three months later, she and I are dating. Her father “swears” that he has seen me before when I meet her parents. I was told, “So, I know why my dad thinks you look familiar,” when I went to see Jacqueline at work a few weeks later. He gave his daughter your mother’s name after dating her in high school. Tale No. 4:

I learnt that my father and mother were still together. There was no such thing as him. She changed her identity, bought a wedding ring, found out she was pregnant, and announced her marriage to her family.
When she travelled to my grandparents’ place, she always made up reasons why her husband couldn’t be there to greet them. She was ordered not to wear the ring in his home ever again by my grandfather during the third visit. © Unknown Reddit author

I discovered that my real grandfather’s brother was the one I had assumed had died. After getting divorced from one man, my nanna remarried his brother. For a while, it seriously confused my thinking! Reddit/CalShy ©
Story 7: My mother arrives at my grandmother’s place out of the blue. A few years have passed since their separation. My grandma is 75 and my mother is 57.
As she gets ready for work, my grandma says she doesn’t want to talk and asks that you phone her if you need to talk. After yelling at my grandmother, my mother then loads stuff onto her vehicle and drives off. According to a paternity test, her father is not her biological father. © Reddit/JEC2eec

Story 9: I recently learnt that my eleven-year husband has a girlfriend, which is already shocking. The narrative, however, gets more complex. His best friend’s stepdaughter, who is 13 years younger than him, is his new girlfriend.
What is the most significant storyline twist? Everyone is completely okay with it, except for me. The world is incomprehensible to me. Reddit © riverwild0703
Tale 10:

When I was living in central California, my mother and I got up one night so she could drive me to work at three in the morning.
We both look to our right at the same moment as we are at a red light. The moon is around 200 times bigger than it has ever been. It appeared to be perched on the edge of the earth, which is nearly impossible to describe. No one else I’ve met has ever seen it or anything similar, for whatever reason. Tale 11:

I went on a date with my crush, Stroy 12. Until she received a call, everything was OK. “I apologise,” she murmured, turning pale. I’ll be back shortly.
Half an hour went by. She didn’t come back. “Sir,” the waitress remarked sourly, “you must go. Now. When I heard sirens, I believed I had been ghosted.
My date was in an ambulance, and I froze. I rushed over, frantic, and enquired about the situation. She had, as it turned out, suddenly become quite lightheaded and fallen. According to a paramedic, she was feeling better after receiving medication, but they recommended her to stay away from stress.
She gave me a feeble smile and reassured me that everything was OK and I shouldn’t be concerned. She went on to say that she has a medical problem that makes her feel lightheaded when she’s stressed. During our date, she received a call from her employer informing her that she had committed a grave error and would be let go. The shock took her by surprise.
To make sure she was okay, I hugged her. I took her home once she was given the all-clear to go. We continued dating for some time after that.
