Instead, she was searching for her rocker husband, Sir Richard Starkey, also known as Ringo Starr, who would be her knight in shining armor.
Bach is now 75 years old. Her role as the love interest and possible enemy of Roger Moore’s character James Bond, the womanizing 007 agent, in the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me marked the height of her career.
A People article from 1983 claims that Bach called Bond “a chauvinist pig who uses girls to shield him against bullets”.
In an interview with People in 1973, the year he starred in his first Bond movie, Live and Let Die, Moore concurred, saying, “Bond, like myself, is a male chauvinist pig.” I’ve been working to encourage women to stop wearing pants and brassieres for my entire life.
Bach had already appeared in Italian films before filming The Spy Who Loved Me. For example, she costarred with two Bond Girls, Barbara Bouchet from Casino Royale (1967) and Claudine Auger from Thunderball (1965), in the 1971 Italian murder mystery Black Belly of the Tarantula.
Bach’s iconic portrayal as a Bond girl cemented her as a beloved character and launched her acting career.
She starred in Mad Magazine Presents Up the Academy, a 1980 film directed by Robert Downey Sr., and Caveman, a 1981 slapstick comedy in which she costarred alongside Dennis Quaid, Shelley Long, and Ringo Starr, now eighty-two, after portraying the fictional KGB character Major Anya Amasova.
Starr portrays a Neanderthal who harbors feelings for Bach’s character Lana, but ultimately ditches her in favor of another partner.
What actually occurred is not reflected in the screenplay at all.
As they flew to the Mexican filming location of Caveman, the two met in the Los Angeles airport.
Bach, who was featured in a 1981 Playboy picture (according to People), claimed that “a lot of garbage has been written about us, none of it interesting.” The fact is that we didn’t spend any time together until the very end of Caveman. We had a good working relationship, but each of us had our own buddies. And then, suddenly, it happened during the final week of shooting. From friendly love to love, we transitioned.
The Beatles legend, who married his wife over forty years ago, gushed about her in an interview with the Irish Examiner in 2021.
I adore the gal. I fell in love with her the moment I laid eyes on her at LAX in 1980. We happened to be traveling to Mexico to work on the same project, so I was at the airport checking in while she was there with a boyfriend. Thus that came to pass,” Star recounted. “I can never express how grateful I am that she is in my life.”
The drummer for the Beatles, the most influential band in history, is Starr, of supernova fame. Additionally, in 1965, Bach attended a Beatles performance at Shea Stadium in New York, where he performed with the late John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney as a member of the Fab Four live.
Bach acknowledges that even though she was present, she wasn’t a huge Beatles fan. Along with her sister Marjorie, who was so enamored of the band that she arrived sporting a Beatles wig, she was accompanied by her friend Joe Walsh.
“My sister Marjorie was a Beatles fan,” Bach said in an interview with People in 1981. “I enjoyed Ray Charles, the Rolling Stones, and [Bob] Dylan.”
Walsh, who later became the Eagles guitarist in 1975, was married to Marjorie. Walsh also performed in the live rock supergroup Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band with his brother-in-law.
Bach and Starr were married on April 27, 1981, just months after Lennon’s death, and McCartney and Harrison were among their guests.
They have been together ever since.
The couple was in a near-fatal collision just before their wedding, in which the vehicle they were driving swerved to miss a truck and turned over twice before coming to a halt.
Following the accident, Starr stated, “We agreed that we would never be apart.” Five days was the longest gap to yet, and it was excessive. I want to be with Barbara all the time.
In 1988, they also went to treatment together, and they have remained sober ever since.
With the message, “It was 40 years ago today The love of my life said yes yes yes,” Starr shared a picture from their wedding day, which also included McCartney and Harrison, to commemorate the cute couple’s 40th anniversary in 2021.
The couple’s love extends beyond their blended family; Bach has two children with her ex-husband, Augusto Gregorini, and Starr has three with her late wife, Maureen Cox. They also manage a charity, The Lotus Foundation. The organization provides funding for a number of initiatives related to cancer, substance misuse, homelessness, and animals. Starr, who is also an artist, gives the charity a hundred percent of her sales.

Starr continues, “There is no way out … Barbara and I are still together, and I am very grateful that she still loves me. I believe that my love for her is as strong now as it was when we first met.
