Reazjhana William from Denver, had come to the hospital intending to deliver naturally only for events to play out otherwise.
When the baby’s heartbeat could not be detected, medical staff took immediate action.
Once Reazjhana started to process things, her daughter entered the world, but immediately, she was startled to see something on her face.

Delivered via C-section
Most mothers, in the first moments after the birth of their babies, are holding them close and forming that connection. Reazjhana was not among them. After the C-section delivery, Reazjhana was forced to give up her baby to a plastic surgeon, and immediately after.
Allow me to bring you back to the beginning.
On one day early in June 2021, Reazjhana Williams headed towards a Denver hospital, expecting her long-awaited daughter. It’s still hard for Reazjhana to understand how it all happened, but she remembers the doctors not being able to hear the heartbeat of her baby, which led to the plans for an emergency C-section.
”They gave me a labor-inducing pill, and shortly thereafter I underwent an emergency C-section,” Reazjhana told KDVR,
The reaction was overwhelming for not just one but both parents.
Taken to a plastic surgeon
It wasn’t until the birth of Kyanni that the parents realized their baby had a big, deep gash across one side of her face. For a first time parent, Reazjhana had mixed feelings and worry and it only added to those feelings with the scar.

The baby was quickly taken to a plastic surgeon for the required stitches.
Reazjhana spoke, “I was trying to be understanding, but her face requires emergency surgery and a plastic surgeon, and there are just too many things that I can’t understand about the C-section”.
The grandmother of Kyanni revealed that the doctors explained to her the baby’s head was close to the placenta wall on the procedure. The baby’s cheek had been significantly hurt, which made the medical staff shout and rush her to plastic surgery.
Required 13 stitches
The deep and extensive wound on Kyanni Williams’ face required 13 stitches to close it.
‘I’ve never heard of someone being subject to such complication when their baby was born by C-section.”
Damarqus described the baby as uncomfortable and gave the distress that such a situation brings.
Denver Health has made a statement regarding the incident.
Denver Health has made a personal contact with the family. We accept that this complication is possible during emergency C-sections, yet our primary goal is always the safety and care of the mother and child.” <
“We at Denver Health take serious note of the need to protect patients’ safety and health.”
More than $11,000 were raised on a GoFundMe page to cover the medical expenses for the family after the incident.
