But a recent comment from Melania Trump, the former First Lady, adds an unexpected twist to this long-running public feud.
A lot of people are curious in how Swift’s political career has altered. For the first part of her career, the music star didn’t become involved in politics or make any endorsements or comments about them.
She stepped out in 2018 and publicly supported Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, over Marsha Blackburn, a Republican, in the battle for the U.S. Senate seat from Tennessee. Swift’s Instagram post said that Blackburn’s voting record was “appalling and terrifying,” which made it clear that she was no longer going to stay neutral.
Swift tweeted at the time, “I will always vote for the candidate who will protect and fight for the human rights that I think we all deserve.”
That post caused a lot of problems in the news and in politics, especially as Blackburn was a personal friend of Donald Trump, who was then President. Of course, Trump hit back with a dig. He said from the White House grounds, “I like Taylor’s music about 25% less now, okay?”

He played the song at his rallies and claimed in Houston that it had pushed Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus off the iTunes charts. The bragging sounded more like an insult than something to be thrilled about.

The New York Post says that Melania’s answer was surprising: “She’s really good at what she does.”
It’s easy to say, but it goes against everything her husband has been saying. Donald Trump has publicly criticized Swift’s character and dismissed her accomplishments, but Melania just thanked her. Melania and Donald disagree, which might mean they prefer different things or that Melania is more careful in public.
