There is no secret that Madonna did not always get along well with the Catholic Church; there have been times when the two were not in an eye to eye contact both in the past and in the present.
But now, what a stroke of luck, It turns out the Pontiff and her are relatives.
Madonna has been in conflict with the Catholic Church ever since she entered the scene in 1982.
Although she was brought up in the Catholic faith, she ended up going against the church in the way that she expressed her art.

The vocalist has infamously employed religious iconography to both her music and videos, which previously has incorporated such scenarios as wearing crucifix jewellery, accompanied by a bra and mesh crop top, or kissing a saint in the video of her song, Like a Prayer. She has even gone on her Confessions tour strapped to a crucifix.
She has been described as satanic and has been attacked by Pope John Paul II who said she had the most satanic show in the history of mankind when she was on her Blonde ambition tour and her later 2006 tour called Confessions was termed as; “a blasphemous challenge to the faith and profanation of the cross” by Cardinal Ersilio Tonini (according to The Guardian).
The music superstar is apparently related to Leo XIV who was appointed on May 8 2025.
The connection they have with each other because of a The New York Times joining forces with American Ancestors and the Cuban Genealogy Club of Miami.
The study examined the family tree of the Pope both the side of the father and the mother. It also came out that Madonna was related to Pope Leo XIV through a Canadian ancestor, Louis Boucher de Grandpre, born in Trois-Riviieres, Quebec.
As a result of this, Pope also possesses Canadian distant relatives like Angelina Jolie, Hilary Clinton, Justin Bieber, Jack Kerouac, Pierre and former Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau
In commemoration of the event, Madonna posted a photo of herself and her father named Silvio Ciccone. She used the words, Silvio! In the caption, referring to a famous song, Vogue she sings. We are related to a Pope! Pose up!”
Madonna had made contact with Pope Francis three years earlier to reconcile with her relationship with the Catholic church.
In one of her tweets (which is now X), the singer posted: I am a good Catholic. I swear! I do not Swear I mean! I haven t confessed in a few decades.
Could we get together someday and talk of some important things? I was excommunicated three times. That is not fair enough. Sincerely, Madonna.”
