A lot of people wish to own their own home someday. They want to make all the plans on their own. The house should be big, and a garden would make it even more appealing.
But homes are very expensive. Not everyone can afford to live like this.
A humble farmer who had just turned twenty-three didn’t want to work like his pals. He wanted to own his own house, so he built it himself.
Dane says that it will take him a long time to pay off his mortgage because he doesn’t make a lot of money. He never wanted to take out a loan. But he also couldn’t buy a house without a loan; he would have to save money for most of his life.
Dane decided to build the house by himself. He had never done anything like this before, so he called his dad, who was a good carpenter, to ask for help. Dane went on with the idea since his dad helped him as much as he could.
Along with his dad, his friends also helped him. It would have taken a lot longer to do the assignment without them. Dane had a small budget, so he had to buy cheap things.
He only had to pay $30 for the windows, and the stove was free. It took roughly a year to make. The finished product was a nice, if little, house that had everything you needed to live in it.
Living in a house like this doesn’t cost a lot. The gas burner heats the house, and Dane cooks on it. Instead of power, he used a kerosene lantern. The only thing that ties him to the outside world is his phone, which can connect to the internet.
Dane constructed his own garden, where he grows a variety of fruits and vegetables. His neighbor handed him this little piece of land. Dane wants to raise chickens on a farm in the future.
“I’ve always liked being alone and quiet.” I can’t believe people live in cities that are always noisy. This quiet place is perfect for me. At first, my parents didn’t get why I made the choice, but they calmed down after coming to see me a few times. They are thrilled that I am happy. That’s the thing that matters most to them. They don’t think I’m a bad person for my choice.
Dane’s new house is quite modest, yet it has everything he needs to live a normal life. He has all he needs and is very happy.
“My friends thought I was crazy for living this way. They can’t imagine life without electricity and TV. But I’m never bored; I always have things to do, even without these “comforts.” I don’t get those who don’t know how to have fun.
Dane has already made friends with a lot of farmers in the region, and he spends a lot of time with them.
He still doesn’t have a date. Dane is aware that many individuals wouldn’t want to live that way. If he needs to, he wants to build a bigger residence. Dane can’t buy a ready-made home yet because it’s still too expensive for him. Even for a small cottage, it would cost more than $180,000. Why spend so much? Dane still believes the same thing about this.
It was really weird that there was a small house in the middle of nowhere. Is it really fair to judge someone who is happy living like this? The most important thing is that the person who lives there is happy. It doesn’t matter what other people think.
