During a recent meeting with the New York Post, the President seemed to throw shade at his old tech ally by saying: “Nothing catches me by surprise.”
Musk used to work hand in hand with Trump on the political revival project, as head of the Department of Government Efficiency that was humorously called DOGE.
However, their partnership quickly declined when Musk spoke out against Trump’s key legislation, which was the Big Beautiful Bill aimed at tax reform and had been adopted by the House majority.
Musk’s strong words that the bill is an “abomination” caused Trump to issue a strong and quick rebuttal.

He remarked, “I am focused on things that matter more to me. My margin of victory was very big. Throughout my first term, Elon relied on my strong supporting hand to save his job. It is not something I want to do.”

“He’ll face consequences, should he act targeted,” Trump stated, without going into further details — this comment suggests the statement could more than just political talk, thanks to Musk’s significant work with the government.

According to the press secretary, the President is making a priority of getting this important bill passed and restoring our greatness.
Talking with Hannity, Leavitt mentioned that Musk recently supported Trump for taking action to cut government waste and fraud, which is a vital part of the new bill.
She said that as a businessman, Elon is allowed to express his opinions. It is President Trump’s obligation to defend the interests of American people.
