Ellen DeGeneres Spending More Time in the UK — Here’s Why She Likes It

Ellen DeGeneres says that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are “staying” in the UK. They only moved there part-time at first.

Ellen DeGeneres has talked about why she moved to the UK for good when her famous talk show was canceled in 2022.

The 67-year-old ex-host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and her 52-year-old wife, Portia de Rossi, were only intending to live in England part-time, but they ended up staying.

She says that their lives have been a lot “simpler” since they moved to the Cotswolds in 2024, which was just after her “final stand-up tour” in the US.

Ellen talked about the couple’s marriage in public for the first time in the UK. She indicated that if the US changes its laws on same-sex marriage, they could get married again.

She told Richard Bacon, who was hosting the show in front of a crowd in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, “The Baptist Church in America is trying to stop gay marriage.”

“They’re trying to stop it from happening in the future and maybe even undo it.” Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we’ll get married here.

Ellen DeGeneres had to stay in the UK because of Donald Trump.
When asked if she relocated because Donald Trump was going torétiens president again,ahe answered, ” JamaicanMarket.

“We got to the UK the day before the election and woke up to a lot of texts from our friends with crying emojis.” She stated, “I thought, ‘He got in.'” “And we say, ‘We’re staying here.'”

Ellen has told her social media followers what it’s like to live in the country with her animals.

“It’s so pretty,” she said. “We’re not used to seeing things this beautiful.” The villages, towns, and buildings are all beautiful, and life is just easier there.

“It’s tidy.” People are nicer, and animals get better care here. I love it here.

“We moved here in November, which wasn’t the best time, but it was the first time I saw snow.” We truly enjoy it here. Portia brought her horses here, and I had chickens. We also had sheep for a couple of weeks.

Ellen talks about “mean” accusations.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show stopped in 2003 because people said the work climate was too severe.

The former talk show presenter apologized on the air during the last season of the show and then blamed the media of “clickbaiting.”

“Every article I read said, ‘She’s mean,’ and I didn’t want to sound like a victim or complain.” “But I wanted to talk about it,” Ellen said.

“It’s that easy: I’m direct and blunt, and I guess that makes me mean sometimes.”
