Friday, May 17, 2025, legendary country singer Alan Jackson came to Milwaukee and gave one of the most emotional performances in his hundreds of performances in many decades of his career. In front of a sell-out audience, the country music legend, who is 66 years old, announced what fans had been dreading since long but did not dare to believe.
Tearfully and visibly stressed, Jackson replied, telling the audience, that it was the final road show of his career and officially putting an end to his touring career, thus closing his Last Call: One More for the Road Tour in a moving fashion. The people, sensing that it is a matter of importance, rewarded the performance with a prolonged applause that lasted many minutes as many people wiped their tears, having realised this to be a moment in history.

It was announced only nine days after Jackson performed a moving version of \≤ cute-rqu SS realistic-colors durante era cubetaENtta strong e Founded on Country Music Academy Awards 2025 which was highly acclaimed and commented on online and viewed by many as a possible final performance. Although fans were already speculating over the future of his live shows, not many were ready to hear it confirmed in such close and emotional venue.

Although the news was filled with sadness, Jackson gave the fans a glimmer of hope and one last thing to smile at. He ended by announcing a special farewell concert in Nashville, probably during the summer of 2026. We have a really large finish show in Nashville next summer we are planning to do, he said. I just had to finish it all where it all began. And that is in Nashville, Tennessee. Music City.” A silver lining to the date was announced through a final hometown performance by the singer to give a small yet significant feat to his long-term fans, a majority of them following the singer since his breakout shows in the early 1990s.

One of the factors that have contributed to Jackson deciding to stop touring is his fight in health. In 2021, he announced publicly that he has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a rare, inherited nerve disorder that progressively causes muscles (especially in the arms and legs) to weaken and suffer loss of coordination. His performance has been affected more by the progressive nature of the disease. During a previous interview, he said, “It has been bothering me since years back and it is increasingly becoming apparent.” I am getting a little shaky now even at the mike. I simply want people to understand that this is why I appear the way I do.

Throughout his career Alan Jackson has been one of the most genuine voices in country music, with a style characterized by storytelling, humility and close communication with the audience. As with hits such as the Chattahoochee to the touching ballad Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning), he has influenced the genre but has remained close to its roots. This is the swan song, his final farewell as a road actor–and what a finale it is, in the city where he has tried and failed as an actor.
