Anyone who’s faced cockroaches in their house understands just how much of a hassle they can be. They suddenly appear and are very hard to eliminate once they have taken up residence. Most kitchens have the right environment for them—dark, warm and filled with food—which makes it hard to control these pests.
It’s not surprising that roaches prefer to hide in small openings behind appliances, inside cabinets, under sinks or in other hidden spots. Cockroaches love to go where food is, reproduce rapidly and before you notice, an issue can turn into a serious infestation.
While insecticides are available in abundance, some people steer clear of them since they might be harmful to pets or children living in the house. Luckily, you can use everyday items at home to get rid of or reduce the number of cockroaches there. To do this, one makes bait with toothpaste and other commonly available goods.
For this recipe, you require three tablespoons of sugar, four of flour, three of toothpaste and three of water. Place all the ingredients in a bowl and stir them well so that they blend and form a uniform mixture. After the mixture is done, divide it into small pieces and mold them into spheres the same size as marbles or big peas.
They need to be positioned in those areas where cockroaches tend to be present. Concentrate your search in dark areas, under and around the sink, behind the refrigerator, close to the stove or in any place that shows signs of roaches.

Sugar in the bait helps bring the cockroaches nearby. When the bait is consumed, the toothpaste starts to work. Putting toothpaste outside will create a poisoning effect by killing insects and helping reduce their population.
To achieve the best results, you should do this routine two to three times every week. If you regularly update your bait, you can get more pests, as new hatches and hiding cockroaches now have the chance to meet the bait.
As you keep using the methods, you are likely to spot fewer cockroaches around your home. This method is easy, cheap and chemical-free and it allows you to fix a common household problem with things found in your kitchen and bathroom.
