“Snow White’s Plot Under Scrutiny: Should Disney Revise the Iconic Scene?”

A number of individuals are requesting Disney to update the storyline of Snow White to reflect the current era.

In 1937, Disney released their first full-length animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This film is considered by many to be a classic from their youth.

Following her exile at the hands of her nefarious stepmother, the protagonist of the film, which is based on a German fable written by the Brothers Grimm, establishes friendships with seven dwarfs.

The United States Library of Congress has deemed it to be “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant,” as reported by the Los Angeles Times; yet, there are some viewers in the contemporary day who want it to be updated.

In a tweet, one person said, “As a kid, I never knew how dark and sinister some scenes were.” This sentiment is being applied to a number of Disney films that were once a source of delight for a great number of people.

“Have you ever gone back and watched some of the Disney animated movies that came out when we were kids and realized how damn dark and not really for kids they were?” asks another user of X, which was once known as Twitter until it was rebranded.

One sequence in particular from the film Snow White has been the subject of a heated discussion.

In a scene that is considered to be one of the most iconic moments of the film, the prince, who is devastated by what appears to be her death, gives Snow White a passionate kiss.

There is a viewpoint among some viewers that this segment is inappropriate and out of date.

Nichi Hodgson, a journalist and broadcaster, made a statement about the message it conveys regarding consent while he was appearing on the daytime television show Good Morning Britain in the United Kingdom.

There was a kiss scene in the original Brothers Grimm narrative, but Disney added it. She brought this to everyone’s attention.

A moral obligation is owed to Disney. They are able to conduct themselves in an ethical manner if they so choose. They generate billions of dollars annually from the sales of their films. “From a very young age, children watch their films, and these films are some of the first stories that they learn to imbibe,” Hodgson remarked.

Actress Kristen Bell told Parents magazine that she had a serious chat with her children about the kissing scene. This is just one example of how celebrities have chimed in on the subject.

“Don’t you think it’s strange that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?” the actor from Frozen asked another character. Because it is impossible to provide a kiss to someone while they are sleeping!

As an example, one user wrote, “I think it’s great we’re opening up the conversation about consent, but people blaming Disney – a romantic kiss at the end of a movie isn’t the reason teenagers become confused about consent.” However, not everyone is in agreement that the original story should be corrected.

It is a story, thus Disney should be left alone, says another.

“I would argue that Snow White would readily give her consent to be kissed because not kissing her would condemn her to eternal sleep,” another person argues. “I would consider this to be a reasonable argument.”

The following is a response from a fourth individual who is in agreement: “I can’t believe they’re claiming Snow White is wrong today! To put it another way, why not consider it the kiss of life?

As a result of the transformation that was made to the Snow White Enchanted Wish ride at Disneyland in California, the heated argument was revived.

In a review for SFGATE, Julie Tremaine and Katie Dowd stated that the fact that the prince kisses Snow White at the end of the film is the “biggest problem” with the entire film.

There is a significant problem with consent in early Disney films, isn’t it something that we have previously agreed upon? the inquiries made for review

That it is not acceptable to educate children that kissing without first determining whether or not both people are willing to engage in the activity is not acceptable?

It has been rumored that the Snow White remake, which is scheduled to be released in 2025, will take a new approach to the kissing sequence that was unaltered in the original film.

In the past, Rachel Zegler, who will play the major character, gained widespread attention after she shared her insights into the original.

During an interview with Extra TV, the actress expressed her opinion that she thought Snow White’s connection with the prince to be “weird” and claimed that “this time” there won’t be a significant focus on the two of them.

In a humorous manner, she suggested that the scenes involving the prince might even be “cut,” adding, “It’s Hollywood, baby.”
