Leandro de Souza wanted to get away of his past after going through a spiritual shift. He had a lot of tattoos all over his body. The current photographs of his face without tattoos are generating a stir on social media.
For a long time, people called Leandro de Souza “the most tattooed man in Brazil.” His picture was so shocking that it attracted a lot of attention on social media and at events. He had more than 170 tattoos on his body, which was like a living display.
He went through an extremely hard moment in his life before he started the shift that he talks about with thousands of people now. Leandro had issues with drugs and alcohol, and at one time he didn’t have a place to live. At that time, he decided to change everything about his life.
His most recent images show a face with scars that don’t have any ink on them, but they seem different. He says that this has altered him a lot, both physically and emotionally.
The tale
Leandro was born in Bagé, a village on the border between Brazil and Uruguay. He got his first tattoo when he was 13 years old because he loved bands like Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, and Metallica. He had tattoos on 95% of his body, which he claimed made him appear like a rock enthusiast and a renegade.
He became more well-known when he took part in the Santa Rosa International Tattoo Expo and was named Brazil’s most tattooed guy.
His life took a different turn in 2023 when he went through a spiritual change. He added that there was a time when he was addicted to a lot of drugs. He found comfort in the evangelical religion in that environment, which changed how he saw the world and himself.
“I don’t get tattoos anymore.” I don’t think tattoos are a horrible thing. “I think there are more important things we should do after we get baptized and convert,” he stated.
Leandro informed reporters in his hometown that his looks were starting to bother him during interviews. “I wasn’t feeling well; it didn’t fit me anymore.” There was too much of everything. He told O Globo, “There was a time when I felt like a performer.”
The decision to remove the tattoos
Getting rid of his tattoos was a big deal for Leandro. He got laser treatment that splits the ink down into small fragments that the body can get rid of.
He has talked about the process on Instagram, where more than 530,000 people follow his development. You could also see photographs from a few years ago, before he got his first tattoo.
Leandro told reporters that he was sorry he had a tattoo on his face. In an interview, he said, “Think carefully before getting a face tattoo because I wish I hadn’t.”
He also mentioned that he got those tattoos for free as part of his work in the studio.
Every time, it takes 30 to 40 minutes to get the tattoos off his face, which is a tremendous physical challenge. “It hurts a lot, no matter how much anesthesia they use,” he added. It hurts a lot. But that’s part of the price for the things I did in the past.”
Leandro told G1 that there are three types of lasers in each session. He uses one kind of laser to get rid of the ink, another to make the skin look younger, and a third to finish the treatment. He utilizes ice and ointments to reduce the pain, and he thinks that working out helps the results get better.
His supporters have paid for the therapies, which has made it possible for him to go through with them.
“When we hear Leandro say, ‘dignity has been restored,’ we know that our work is about more than just looks,” the tattoo removal team wrote on Instagram.
He wants to be able to take care of his 10-year-old child and hopes to get a good job that would help him support himself and his mother, who is now living in a nursing home.
