I knew from the start that this wedding would be the greatest location to share a secret. Greg thought he knew everything, but he didn’t know that I had the detonator.
Greg and I had a wedding that was straight out of a storybook. Greg smiled as he stood at the altar. It was the beginning of a great life for him. But for me, it was the end of a beautiful lie.
It was like a dream at the reception: champagne toasts, laughing echoing through the yard, and his parents acting like perfect in-laws.
What about me? I did my part wonderfully.

She smiled and danced with Greg as if everything was fine. But on the inside, I was simply waiting for the right opportunity to let it all out.
As the night wore on, Greg got more and more enthusiastic about our wedding night. His hands stayed too long, and his eyes were full of excitement. But I was simply thinking about how to win.
Greg led me to the master suite that his parents had given us as a wedding gift after the guests left and his parents went to bed in the guest rooms downstairs. As soon as he closed the door, the air in the room altered.
He carefully went toward me, holding my wedding dress with both hands. He whispered in my ear, “I’ve been waiting for this all night.”
“Me too,” I answered with a smile.
He slowly unzipped my dress.
When the cloth hit the floor and I turned around, I saw his whole existence come apart.

There was a real but temporary tattoo of Sarah’s face on my chest, coupled with the words he had told her the night before our wedding:
“One last taste of freedom before being stuck with the same body for the rest of your life.”
Greg went down on one knee. “No, this isn’t happening…”
He stammered, “How did you know?”
I remarked in a harsh voice, “Sarah couldn’t wait to throw your betrayal in my face.” “So I made sure you’d always remember it.”
There were footsteps outside. His mom and dad, Marianne and James, came in.
“What’s going on?” “Where is everyone?” Marianne questioned, glancing around.
She became really pale. She gazed at the tattoo. James, who was usually silent, didn’t have to say anything. It was clear that he was angry since his jaw and fists were tense.
“It’s easy,” I said in a calm voice. “Greg cheated on me.” With his ex-girlfriend. This happened the night before we got married.
Marianne was astonished and sat down on the edge of the bed. James didn’t move. Greg stayed on the floor and cried.
James growled, “Gregory.” “Is it true?”
He didn’t say anything.
I made sure, “He slept with her.” “And he told her he needed ‘one last taste of freedom.'”

Marianne let out a cry that sounded like it was lodged in her throat. James’s eyes were full of anger.
Greg tried to keep himself safe. “It was a mistake…” I didn’t mean to…
I yelled, “It wasn’t a mistake.” “It was a choice. You failed me. Now you need to deal with the results.
He asked for mercy. “Please, Lilith… I love you…”
I laughed.
“You love me?” Greg, you don’t even know what love is. You wouldn’t have done what you did if you had known.
He crawled up to me and begged, “Please…” Please, I’m begging you.
I stepped back. “It’s done.” You messed up our relationship as soon as you went back to Sarah.
James moved forward and said loudly.
He commanded them to “Get up.” “Get up and deal with what you’ve done.”
Greg stood up gently. He looked melancholy with his worn tuxedo and cheeks that were wet with tears. He was a man who had lost everything.
I stared at his mom and dad.
I said in a calm voice, “I’m going.” “Now he’s your problem.”
Greg yelled one more time, “Please, Lilith.” “Please don’t go…”
But I was already done. I put on a robe to cover the tattoo and then went to the door.
He cried “Lilith!” after me. “I can change!” “I’ll take care of this!”

I didn’t even look back. There was nothing further to say.
James’s voice cut through the silence as I walked down the steps. It was low and angry.
“You did this, Greg.” You ruined everything up.
Greg’s broken sobs filled the house after that.
But they didn’t hurt me.
I walked away from that house with my head held high.
I didn’t mean to lie.
Not cheating.
Without Greg.
