The cemetery was very quiet, like if the earth itself was holding its breath. The sky was dark and gloomy, and a few droplets of rain dropped on the freshly dug grave. There were only a few people there who were close to the child. No one wanted to make the funeral of an eight-year-old girl a huge issue. The girl died suddenly in the middle of the night. Doctors stated there was a heart problem that was present from birth, even though there had been no signs of it before.
Her mother was dressed all black and had a wet handkerchief in her hands. Her lips were shaking. The father was standing close by and looking at one location in silence, as if none of this was happening to him. The child’s casket, which was adorned with roses, appeared strange amid the gloomy countryside.
It was hard to hear the priest because of the wind. One of the relatives put a soft teddy bear in the casket. The girl had it with her the whole time, even in the hospital. People looked down, and one person silently cried.
There was a strange crack, like a tree breaking nearby, as they began to lower the coffin into the ground. Some individuals turned around, but they couldn’t say anything. Less than a second later, flames erupted out from under the lid of the coffin.
The crowd stopped moving. Someone shouted:
— Fire!
The woman in black fell asleep. The family hurried to the fire and tried to put it out with a coat. The gravediggers rushed to get a fire extinguisher, but it was too late.
Later on, the family was shocked to find out what had started the fire. 😱😱
The flame was a bright orange-blue color and covered the whole top of the wooden coffin in a strange fashion.
The first person to react was a cemetery worker who used to be a firefighter. He yelled to put the casket back up.
It took a lot of work for two men to pull the smoldering casket out with ropes. The fire died out in just a few minutes.
When the lid was opened, the girl’s body was fine. There were no traces of burns on her body or clothes. People there were surprised. The cops took the charred casket to look at it.
Three days later, a report said that the fire was sparked by a lithium battery sewn inside the stuffed teddy bear that was put in the coffin.
The toy turned out to have a light that came on at night. It went off like a fuse when the lid was heavy and hot.
But a lot of people still said, “The girl was trying to say something…”
