Tragic Airport Incident: Man Fatally Injured Near Jet Engine

People know that being too close to an airplane is dangerous, especially its strong jet engines, which might kill you in a second. But bad things still happen, even though there are hazards.

And now it’s happened again, which has astonished both airport workers and travelers.

Pulled into one of the engines
On July 8, a terrible accident occured at Milan Bergamo Airport when an airplane engine killed a 35-year-old man.

The event surprised both airport personnel and passengers, who had to stop planes and the Italian government had to initiate an investigation right away. Bergamo News said that the man, whose name has not been made public, went to the airport and somehow got past security to get to a restricted location on the tarmac.

The man was locked in one of the turbofan engines of a Volotea Airbus A319 just before 10:35 a.m. local time, when the airline was due to take off for Oviedo, Spain. Sacbo, the business that manages the airport, said in a statement that the “incident happened on the taxiway” and that the police are “looking into it” right now.

Volotea Airlines wrote on X, “We’re sorry to say that flight V73511 from BGY-OVD had an accident at Milan-Bergamo Airport at 10:35h.” Someone who wasn’t on the plane and had nothing to do with the corporation was hurt very badly in the crash.

The person who was hurt was not an airport worker or a passenger.
They also claimed, “The 154 passengers and six crew members are all safe.” A fresh flight is scheduled to leave at 15:55.

Authorities confirmed that the fatality was not a passenger or an employee of the airport. We still don’t know how he got past security to get to such a dangerous spot. People claim the man parked his car in front of the airport, broke into a closed door, and then sprinted to a plane that was preparing to take off.

Officials think the victim may have gotten onto the runway to kill himself, according to ANSA.

Because of the terrible tragedy, all airport operations stopped until noon, which caused at least 19 planes to be delayed or sent to a different airport.

Police, emergency responders, and scientists from Bergamo’s Scientific Unit all worked together to keep the area safe and find the victim’s body. Firefighters also aided when more information about what the person did before the disaster became available.

The Daily Mail says that the plane’s engines can spin at a pace of about 15,000 times per minute, which is fast enough to kill someone in a few seconds. The Italian civil aviation authority is looking into how the guy got onto the runway without being observed.

A red Fiat 500 was in the crash.
According to Bergamo News, the person who died was an Italian citizen who was not a passenger or an airport worker. The police are looking into a red Fiat 500 that was parked inside the airport, near where buses generally park. The authorities assume that the 35-year-old man drove that car to the airport in Orio al Serio.

People at the airport said that the man looked like he had taken a wrong turn at a roundabout, stopped the car fast, opened the door, and ran away.

Nearby officers saw something was wrong and one of them chased it down. The man then broke down a security door in the arrivals area, which led him straight to the runway. The horrible thing happened a few minutes later.

People who were aboard the plane and the crew who experienced the horrible occurrence are getting help for their mental health. Authorities are still attempting to figure out what went wrong with the safety system that led to the deaths, and the airport and airline have said they will cooperate in any way they can.
