Parents Urged to Take Note After Teen Burned by Charging Phone

While her phone was charging, a 13-year-old girl used it, leaving her with horrifying burns on her neck.

From the moment our children are born, protecting them becomes our top responsibility. I believe that every parent would agree with this statement.

Because the thought of our children getting sick or hurt is frequently unimaginable, we take extreme measures to keep them safe. Most of us don’t even give it much thought; instead, it’s an instinct that manifests itself the moment we see our child.

Even with the strictest due diligence, things can and will inevitably go wrong since the world frequently has different ideas.

The day something happens that they can’t stop, especially if it’s an accident or experience they couldn’t have predicted, most parents will be terrified.

Jackie Fedro has a lot of experience with that. Although her daughter’s horrific experience occurred in 2016, we believe it is just as important to share now.

According to BuzzFeed, Jackie made the decision in 2016 to let her 13-year-old daughter Gabbie have her own phone. It was an LG D500 that Gabbie received for Christmas.

In order to stay in contact with her given her hectic practice schedule, Jackie said BuzzFeed, “we finally gave in and got her a cell phone.”

However, the nightmare that ensued was beyond their wildest expectations. One day, Gabbie was in her room using her phone when Jackie heard her yell.

Jackie remembered, “She came running downstairs after it [happened] grabbing her neck.” In excruciating pain, she let forth a wild cry.

“As a mother, nothing is worse than seeing your child scream in agony and not knowing how to comfort her.” She was unable to explain what had happened to us for at least five minutes.

While her phone was plugged into its charger, Gabbie admitted to her mother that she had been using it. The 13-year-old was shocked with electricity, which caused her neck to burn as the current passed through her phone, up the charging wire, and into her metal necklace.

Jackie stated to BuzzFeed: “She will have a scar around her neck as a result of her excruciating second-degree burns.”

Jackie, in her remarks on the disturbing event, asked other parents to think about the risks associated with cellphones that aren’t well understood or shared.

“Parents need to be warned about the harm that phones can cause, especially since so many kids use them these days,” Jackie stated.

How dreadful! Do you have any prior knowledge of such an occurrence? Of course I hadn’t.
