A Kentucky mother told in a story published by many that a recent ultrasound image brought great comfort and peace to her during a high risk pregnancy.
Amanda Foster, 33, is expecting to have her fourth child, a baby boy called Kyler. In April 2022, she posted an ultrasound photo on Facebook, which soon went viral, not only due to medical news, but as she and her daughter thought they perceived in the picture a hand, tenderly supporting the head of the unborn baby.

The pregnancy has been an emotional experience according to Foster. Several years earlier, she had lost her first child, Xavier, when he was only 20 weeks old because of a rare and life-threatening disorder known as Potter syndrome, which interferes with the growth of kidneys in a baby. The loss had a profound effect on her and she subsequently learnt that the condition occurs much more frequently in male infants.
Amanda and her husband Kyle did not give up and their subsequent two births were two healthy daughters despite the heartbreak. In August 2022, they had a born son Jay- who is free of Potter syndrome and has healthy kidneys and healthy growth.
Amanda is now pregnant again, and she says that this pregnancy has also presented its own issues. Initial blood tests showed a heart malformation and the regular check-ups and high-risk monitoring were set. Amanda claims to pray every time before an ultrasound, hoping to get strength and asking her child to remain healthy.
Recently, her daughter Bailey followed her to one appointment and she made a surprising discovery. Bailey looked up at the ultrasound and said: “Whose hand is that?” However, in the picture, we can notice a similarity of the big hand that is seemingly laying on the head of the baby.

Amanda posted the picture and the narrative on Facebook where she said it was an emotional moment that left her touched. She wrote: In one of his pictures it looks like a hand holding his head. I would start crying when I thought about how much my son has been supported and taken care of.
Amanda has shelled on the progress of her baby boy since that time. By June 20, on week 36, Kyler is developing normally, weighing more than 7 pounds. She wrote: He is our chunky boy! Today they observed his practice breathing. He had a good pulse. I only wait to get him in my arms.”
In the case of Amanda, the ultrasound image has appeared to serve as a source of inspiration-it is a reminder that there is hope when faced with tragedy, and that one can still bear strength at the most unpredictable moments.
Numerous viewers of the image on the Internet Web have also provided their interpretations and inspirations. However there is a symbolic perspective by some people and there is an opinion of a heartwarming tale of mother faith and perseverance.
