Zeke Best, a 10-month-old Idaho baby, was discovered dead just one day after an Amber Alert was issued for his abduction, in a sad and terribly upsetting turn of events. The case, which began over the weekend, has upset the local community and drew national attention as information of the infant’s terrible death and the violent circumstances leading up to it surface.

Authorities discovered Zeke’s lifeless body about 24 miles east of Idaho Falls, near a desolate region where his father, Jeremy Albert Best, had been discovered by a hunter. The hunter had alerted police after witnessing a distressing scene: a man lying on the highway, completely naked, covered in a sleeping bag, and acting strangely.
“The caller stated the man was naked and making odd statements,” law enforcement officers reported, revealing the strange and unsettling tip that led to the discovery of Zeke’s remains.

According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Best was issued an arrest warrant on Friday for kidnapping his son, stemming from a horrifying chain of events that began with the death of his wife, Kali Jean Randall, whose body was discovered in her Victor, Idaho home the day before. Her death has been deemed a homicide.
Authorities reacted quickly to the hunter’s report and found Best’s truck stuck in an embankment off the side of the road. Investigators found the infant’s body at this location, bringing the search to a terrible end and increasing the criminal inquiry.

Best, who is currently being held in the Bonneville County Jail, faces escalating legal issues while investigators from Bonneville County, the Idaho State Police, the FBI, and the Teton County Sheriff’s Office sift through the evidence. His arraignment is still pending, and it is unclear if he has been assigned legal counsel.
Back-to-back catastrophes have cast a pall over the region. What began as a domestic tragedy with the discovery of Kali Randall’s death soon escalated into a full-fledged Amber Alert, a multijurisdictional manhunt, and now a heartbreaking double tragedy.
Community members and politicians alike have voiced their grief and fury over the incidents. In a statement, law authorities expressed their condolences: “Our thoughts are with the family of the victims involved in this case.”

As the inquiry progresses, the focus has shifted to obtaining justice for Kali Jean Randall and Zeke Best. The situation has not only left loved ones saddened, but it has also highlighted concerns about domestic violence, mental health, and child protection in high-risk settings.
This terrible example serves as a stark reminder of life’s fragility and the significance of intervening in domestic abuse situations. As more details emerge, the community stays united in grief—and the hope that fast justice will be served.
