Three adolescent members of the University of Wyoming swimming and diving team were killed in a tragic automobile accident near the Wyoming-Colorado border.
The fatalities were named as freshman Carson Muir, 18, from Birmingham, Alabama; sophomore Charlie Clark, 19, from Las Vegas; and junior Luke Slabber, 21, from Cape Town, South Africa.
They were killed near the crossroads of Red Mountain Road and US Highway 287 between Livermore and Virginia Dale, Colorado.
According to preliminary findings, the car veered off the road and rolled multiple times as a result of the driver’s swerving. The Colorado State Patrol said on Friday that no plausible causes, such as speed, impairment, or other distractions, have been ruled out as contributing to the tragic accident, and that the incident is currently being examined.

Two further members of the men’s swimming and diving team were injured but not seriously during this terrible event and were released from the hospital. Notably, shortly before 2:45 p.m., one of the survivors was driving when the crash occurred.
The Colorado State Patrol, which is still investigating the accident’s details, stated that the vehicle, a Toyota RAV4 with five occupants inside, went out of the southbound lane and rolled numerous times, ejecting two people.
It should be noted that, while all of the victims were members of the university’s swimming team, they were not on official school business when the tragic tragedy occurred.
Ed Seidel, president of the University of Wyoming, replied to the heartbreaking news with words that cannot fully express the university, the state, and the greater student-athlete community’s anguish.
Athletics Director Tom Burman expressed his sympathy for the University of Wyoming family’s loss. He underlined that at this tough time, coaches and student-athletes can seek counseling assistance.
Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and his wife have expressed their sorrow for the sad occurrence, as the community deals with this huge loss.
During this tragic time, they requested everyone to keep the victims’ families, friends, and loved ones in their thoughts.
This horrible occurrence serves as a sobering reminder of both the fragility of life and the unpredictability of catastrophic disasters. In memory of the young lives lost in this horrific accident, the University of Wyoming, the state, and the greater community will undoubtedly band together to support one another during this difficult time.
