Video of Chinese nationals he claims were apprehended while serving in the Russian army has been uploaded by Zelenskyy.
The military of Ukraine has detained two Chinese nationals who were serving in the Russian army on Ukrainian soil, according to claims made by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
It was already known that Russia has enlisted North Korean soldiers in its army to support Vladimir Putin’s now three-year-old invasion of Ukraine.
Indians who were employed as “helpers” by the Russian army and wound up on the front lines were also covered by the BBC last year.
After claiming that the Ukrainian military had apprehended two Chinese nationals who were fighting for Russia, Zelenskyy has since shared video on social media and called on China to respond.

He wrote: “Two Chinese nationals who were fighting alongside the Russian army have been taken into custody by our soldiers. The Donetsk region of Ukraine is where this incident took place. They were found in possession of personal information, bank cards, and identification documents.
These two are not the only Chinese citizens in the occupier’s units, according to information we have. We are presently checking all the facts—intelligence, the Ukrainian Security Service, and the appropriate Armed Forces units are working on it.
“I have directed the Ukrainian Foreign Minister to get in touch with Beijing right away and explain China’s plans in response to this.
Russia’s direct or indirect engagement of China and other nations in the European conflict is a blatant indication that Putin has no intention of putting an end to the conflict. He’s searching for ways to keep fighting. There must undoubtedly be a response to this. The United States, Europe, and everyone else who wants peace must respond.
“The Ukrainian Security Service is currently holding the Chinese nationals who were apprehended.
“Relevant investigative and operational actions are ongoing.”
Zelenskyy posted the video on social media, showing the detained Chinese soldier describing being hit by a drone strike.
The imprisoned soldier seemed to narrate explosions and the wounding of his commander while his hands were zip-tied together.

Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin enlisted an additional 160,000 men in the Russian invasion campaign earlier this month.
Russia has rebuffed efforts to negotiate a truce and recently killed 20 people, including nine children, with missile strikes on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
In Belgorod, Zelenskyy recently reported that Ukrainian troops had launched another counterattack into Russian territory.
Ukraine had earlier succeeded in sending troops into Kursk, but they have subsequently been forced to leave the majority of the land they have captured.
About 20 percent of Ukrainian territory is currently under Russian occupation, three years after the invasion started.
