10 Common Items Better Stored Off the Kitchen Counter

When I originally established my kitchen, I devised all the items that were to be on the countertop. It was logical then, which is convenient to get my essentials, right? However, as time went by, I found out that my counters were in a mess, and even worse I was wasting food and having unnecessary clutter. In this article we will tell you 10 things should not be storing on your kitchen countertop!

  1. Never Keep Bread on the Countertops
It might be tempting to leave bread on the counter, but that is a wrong thing to do. Bread unprotected in the elements is more apt to be dried out, or, according to the degree of moisture, to mould. The solution? Keep it in a bread box or fridge.

2.Knives of Kitchen Countertops
Storing my knife block on the countertop is wasting precious counter space and it is not necessarily a hygienic choice. Slots could fill with crumbs and grease as time goes by. Rather, take a look at magnetic knife strips on the wall or a drawer insert to keep your knives in order and out of the counter.

3.Minor Appliances You Do Not Need Often
Air fryers, blenders, toasters, oh my! They should not stay on your countertop unless you use these daily. By keeping them in a cabinet, you will automatically make your kitchen neater. I leave room on the counter tops to place my coffee maker, since I use it every day- all others off.

4.Vegetables and fruits that go bad easily

A lot of fruits and vegetables go bad quicker when stored at room temperature. As an example, avocados have a tendency to ripen too fast and potatoes grow sprout being exposed to light. Keep items such as these in a cool dark pantry or in the fridge. Just present products such as bananas or apples that can be grown outside of the fridge.

      1. Spices
I adore cooking with spices, and therefore, I kept all of them in a tiny rack on the counter, a long time. However have you heard that heat and light can even degrade flavors of spices? In order to save them, keep them in a drawer or a cabinet and not beside the stove.

      6.Mail and Patches
It is true and guilty as charged my kitchen counter was used to be my dumping ground of mail, bills and random papers. This causes eyesores and it is more difficult to find what you need when you need it. Instead, it is better to arrange a mail organizer in a different room or in a specific drawer.

        7.Cutting Boards

I considered putting the cutting boards into a pile in the corner to be convenient. And this not only takes up space, but also looks untidy. Cutting boards rather store best in a vertical compartment within a cabinet or placed into a drawer.

          1. Pet Food and Bowls

Pet food cans and bowls have the potential to litter your area, and invite pests unless you wash them out. Consider putting their kibble in an airtight container in the pantry and keeping bowls on a mat in one area.

          1. Coffee Pods or Beans in transparent Jars

I would present my beans and pods in adorable jars of glass. However, the thing is, light and air can destroy the freshness of coffee. Make sure you put beans in a non-transparent container that is airtight and keep your pods in a drawer or a cabinet.

          1. Do Not Keep Cookbooks on the Countertops
I prefer flicking through cookbooks as I cook, but leaving them lying on the bench will take up space, and can lead to spillages or splatters. An alternative solution? Keep them on a shelf near by or even a drawer. To save counter space, put up a picture or a tablet on frequently used recipes.Best gifts to your loved ones
